Crystal Gillis is Counsel in our Toronto Litigation Group, with a practice focused on professional liability and health regulatory matters before administrative tribunals and all levels of court.
Prior to joining McCarthy Tétrault, Crystal articled in the commercial litigation group of a large national firm and practiced for several years at a global law firm, where she acted as counsel to insurers in complex coverage disputes and cross-border insurance litigation. Crystal’s conscientious and collegial approach allowed her to achieve positive outcomes for her commercial and professional clients in matters involving professional negligence, product liability, defamation, personal injury, cyber & privacy, and commercial litigation.
Crystal earned her BA (First Class Honours) from Saint Francis Xavier University in 2005 and her Master of Arts from the University of Western Ontario in 2006. After working on Parliament Hill for several years, she went on to obtain her JD from the University of Ottawa in 2014.
Crystal was called to the Ontario bar in 2015, and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Advocate’s Society, the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association. Crystal is also an active member of Canadian Defence Lawyers, sitting on the CLE committee and co-chairing the “Boot Camp” program for new lawyers in 2017.
