Corinne Xu is an Associate in our Competition/Antitrust & Foreign Investment Group in Toronto.

Corinne advises on all aspects of competition law, including merger review, abuse of dominance, joint ventures and strategic alliances, criminal and civil litigation, marketing and distribution practices, cartel investigations and regulatory compliance. She also provides strategic advice on foreign investment merger review under the Investment Canada Act, including for national security issues.

Corinne has extensive experience advising on both cross-border and domestic mergers, and has represented clients in a number of key industries including private equity, technology, fintech, energy, mining, telecommunications, and consumer packaged goods. Corinne is also experienced with working with government relations and public relations advisors to secure approval for high-profile transactions.

Representative matters include:

  • London Stock Exchange Group on its US$27 billion acquisition of Refinitiv.
  • Canadian Pacific Railway on its US$312 million acquisition of an 83.5% stake in the Detroit River Rail Tunnel from certain affiliates of OMERS.
  • Digital Colony Partners and EQT Infrastructure IV Fund on their US$14.3-billion acquisition of Zayo Group.
  • Harris Corporation on its US$34-billion merger with L3 Technologies.
  • PayPal on its US$400 million acquisition of Hyperwallet.

Corinne received her JD from the University of Toronto in 2016 and was called to the bar in Ontario in 2017. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, Canadian Bar Association, and American Bar Association. Prior to law school, Corinne graduated from Queen’s University with an honors degree in mathematics.
