Claire Gowdy is an associate in our Business Law Group in Toronto. She maintains a general corporate law practice and advises clients in a wide range of industries, including mining, technology, financial services, and energy.
Ms. Gowdy recently completed a six-month secondment to a major Canadian financial institution. While on secondment, she acted exclusively as in-house counsel to one of the bank’s fintech investments, providing advice on all aspects of payments innovation, including outsourcing arrangements, consumer protection and anti-money laundering requirements, as well as other general commercial and regulatory matters.
Ms. Gowdy received her LL.B. and B.C.L. in 2013 from McGill University’s Faculty of Law and her A.B. in psychology from Princeton University in 2007. She was a member of the varsity rowing teams at both Princeton and McGill. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.
