Cindy Vaillancourt is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s Business Law group. Her practice focuses on the environment, energy and natural resources.
She represents clients from a variety of industries and provides advice in particular on government relations, contaminated land remediation, environmental and regulatory compliance and permitting processes. In the context of company or property sales or acquisitions, she coordinates environmental due diligence and negotiates the contractual aspects of environmental issues.
She also has considerable expertise on climate change, including with regard to issues related to the Quebec greenhouse gas cap-and-trade system.
Ms. Vaillancourt earned her master’s degree in international and transnational law (LL. M.) and was called to the Quebec Bar in December 2002. Prior to joining McCarthy Tétrault’s Montréal office in 2006, she was a legal and political advisor on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, notably on climate change issues.
