Christina assists business owners, high net worth individuals, and professionals with the implementation of complex estate plans and/or succession plans.
Christina Shum is an associate in our Tax Group in Toronto. She maintains a general trusts and estate practice, with a focus on providing tax-efficient, probate-efficient, and practical solutions that are tailored to the unique short- and long-term needs of the client. As a part of her practice, Christina regularly assists on the drafting of single and multiple wills, continuing powers of attorney for property, powers of attorney for personal care, trust agreements, life insurance trusts and other documents related to estate and succession planning. She also assists executors and trustees, trust companies, and advisors on matters of estate administration and powers of attorney documents.
Christina received her law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School where she was Co-President of the Osgoode Peer Support Centre and Vice-President of Osgoode Women’s Network. She also received an Honours Bachelor of Music Therapy from the University of Windsor where she was awarded the Board of Governor’s Medal in Music for achieving the highest academic standing. She also received her Associate Diploma with the Royal Conservatory of Music in classical piano performance. Before Christina went into law school, she worked as a licensed music therapist, specializing in dementia, geriatric and end-of-life care. She brings her sense of intuition, compassion, and empathy into her legal practice.
Christina is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Junior Trusts and Estates Practitioner group. She is also a student member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioner.
