Azin Samani is Counsel in our Litigation Group in Toronto. Her practice focuses on health regulation and litigation. Azin acts as counsel for the Canadian Medical Protective Association, representing physicians and surgeons before administrative tribunals and all levels of court.
Azin articled as a judicial law clerk for the judges of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. She has since appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Federal Court, in addition to advocating before various administrative bodies and tribunals. Prior to joining McCarthy Tétrault, Azin represented plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury claims and medical malpractice claims, with experience as co-counsel in jury trials.
Azin brings to her health law practice insight as a former investigator for a large health regulatory college in Ontario. She currently sits as an executive member of the Ontario Bar Association's Health Law Section. In addition, Azin volunteers her time with Pro Bono Ontario's Legal Advice Hotline, providing summary advice on civil litigation matters.
Azin received her Honours BA (with High Distinction) from the University of Toronto in 2007, with a specialization in International Relations and minor in Economics. She received her JD from the University of Ottawa (Cum Laude) in 2011.
Azin was called to the Ontario bar in 2012. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.
