Aya is entering her third year at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. Prior to law school, Aya received her Bachelor of Commerce from the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University.
Before beginning her legal studies, Aya worked as a radio producer at a Bell Media radio station in Montreal and contributed to The Ladder, a leadership column in the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business. This past year, Aya has been working as a research assistant to Professor Yasmin Dawood and has conducted comparative research on a variety of electoral law matters.
At law school, Aya has explored her interests in advocacy and IP. With her team, she recently won the 2019 Harold G. Fox IP Moot and received an award for writing the best respondent factum. Aya is one of the Student Directors at Artists’ Legal Advice Services, a pro-bono legal clinic providing summary advice to artists in Ontario. She also served as the Director of Submissions at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review.
In her free time, Aya enjoys listening to podcasts, trying new restaurants, and playing with her family dog, Ginny.
