Aya has completed the second year of her J.D. at Osgoode Hall Law School. She holds an M.A. from McGill University and a B.A from the American University in Cairo. Before moving to Canada, Aya worked at a Human Rights NGO before starting her teaching career in Cairo, Egypt.
At Osgoode, Aya was the 2L executive at Osgoode’s Mooting Society and represented the school as an oralist in the Oxford Price Media Moot. She also served as a Dean’s Fellow for Public and Constitutional Law and has mentored first-year students as they navigate law school.
Aya will have served as her class representative for student government throughout her three years at Osgoode. Along with her peers, she co-founded the Middle Eastern Law Students Association (MELSA), an organization that ensures incoming and current students enjoy a fruitful law school experience and are part of a supportive community.
Outside of law school, Aya enjoys traveling, cooking, reading historical fiction, and learning new languages.
