Anthony Salandra is an Associate in our Real Property and Planning Group in Toronto. His practice focuses on all aspects of commercial real estate, with particular emphasis on purchases and dispositions (across all asset classes), project development, joint venture arrangements and management arrangements. Anthony also regularly advises on real estate aspects relating to large scale mergers and acquisitions.

Anthony represents a broad range of clientele, including developers, institutional investors, institutional lenders, universities, pension funds, landlords, tenants, property managers and asset managers. Clients rely on Anthony’s practical and informed advice to successfully navigate complex commercial real estate transactions with confidence and clarity.

• Acted for LaSalle Investment Management in its acquisition from Ivanhoe Cambridge of a 49% stake in Vaughan Mills shopping centre
• Acted for Avenir Energy Ltd. in its acquisition of Parkland Corporation's Canadian commercial propane business for C$115 million
• Acted for Quest Diagnostics in its acquisition of LifeLabs from OMERS for C$1.35 billion
• Acted for British Columbia Investment Management Corporation and QuadReal Property Group, in their joint venture with RBC GAM Inc. and the first and second closing of the RBC Canadian Core Real Estate Fund, which attracted over C$2 billion in equity commitments from institutional and individual investors
• Acted for Resources Canada Inc. in its definitive agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of Imerys Talc America Inc., Imerys Talc Vermont Inc. and Imerys Talc Canada Inc. 
• Acted for Slate Canadian Real Estate Opportunity Fund I in its C$1.14 billion acquisition of a portfolio of properties from Cominar REIT
• Acted for Oak Street Real Estate Capital in its acquisition of an 89% non-managing interest in a 15-property portfolio for an aggregate purchase price of approximately C$193.3 million from Crombie Real Estate Investment Trust

Anthony is an active participant in McCarthy Tétrault’s student recruitment and student mentoring programs and is a member of the Toronto office’s parenthood committee and precedent management committee. Anthony manages the Real Property and Planning Group’s outward facing blog, the Lay of the Land, which provides the latest information and insights into Canada’s real estate sector. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.

In years 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, Anthony has received from Best Lawyers the “Ones to Watch” award, which recognizes lawyers, in years 3 to 8 of practice, for outstanding professional excellence in private practice in Canada.

Anthony joined McCarthy Tétrault as a student in 2014. He received his Honours BA (with Distinction) in Criminology, with a double minor in History and Psychology from the University of Toronto in 2012. He received his JD from the University of Western Ontario in 2016.
