Andrew Weizman is an associate in our Labour & Employment Group in Toronto. He advises and represents management in a variety of Labour & Employment matters, including employment standards compliance, labour relations, wrongful dismissals, occupational health and safety, human rights, accommodation, workplace investigations, and labour and employment concerns arising in transactions and corporate restructuring.
Andrew acts on behalf of clients in both provincially and federally regulated industries, including the education, telecommunications, retail, banking, insurance, technology, and charitable sectors.
Andrew’s experience includes:
- Assisting on two interventions to the Supreme Court of Canada, including for the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers (CACE) in Société des casinos du Québec inc., a case concerning a constitutional challenge in labour relations, and for EGALE in Hansman v. Neufeld, the first Supreme Court of Canada case affirming the dignity and equality interests of the trans community under Canadian law.
- Carrying out workplace investigations involving a conflict of interest allegation against a public official, and a workplace harassment allegation against a senior manager.
- Assisting a First Nations community-owned project in a significant compensation dispute.
Andrew holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law (2021), where he was the recipient of the Dean’s Excellence Award. Andrew obtained a BA in Public Affairs with distinction from Concordia University.
Andrew was called to the Ontario bar in 2022 and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
