Andrew regularly acts for investment managers and underwriters with respect to the establishment of investment products, including retail-structured products, pooled funds, mutual funds and linked notes. Seasoned in public and private financing transactions, he also acts for issuers and underwriters and provides value-added advice to buyers and sellers with respect to private merger and acquisition transactions. Clients trust Andrew’s extensive experience, innovative insight and strategic guidance to solve complex problems and ensure results.

Some of Andrew’s recent work includes:

  • Sun Life Global Investments (Canada) Inc. in connection with the acquisition of Excel Funds Management Inc. and Excel Investment Counsel Inc.;
  • BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. in the creation of the BMO Q-Model® mutual funds using a unique derivative structure;
  • Acting for the agents on a number of overnight marketed offerings for Quadravest Capital Management and Canoe Financial; and
  • Faircourt Asset Management Inc. in connection with the establishment of pooled funds that invest in late stage technology companies.

An active member of the legal community, Andrew speaks at industry events and lends his insight to articles and publications.

Andrew obtained a BAH (Political Studies) from Queen’s University in 1992, and received his LLB from Dalhousie University in 1996. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1998.
