Aidan is a partner in our Litigation Group and a lead member of our firm’s Construction Law and Global Mining Litigation Groups. Seasoned in construction, mining, real estate and insurance, she leverages her deep industry knowledge to swiftly resolve complex and contentious disputes.
Aidan represents a wide variety of clients, including developers of residential and commercial projects, general contractors, and mining companies. Clients appreciate her responsiveness, her strategic and practical approach to problem-solving, and her relationships with opposing counsel, each of which Aidan uses to find efficient and winning resolutions.
Aidan is one of our Vancouver office’s premiere litigators. Her experience includes:
Construction and real estate — resolving multi-party contract disputes, complex builders lien matters, delay claims and all manner of project-related disputes, including those involving P3 and other infrastructure projects, commercial developments, leases, purchase agreements, collapsing deals and defective work product claims;
Mining — representing global and domestic companies in multi-million dollar commercial contract disputes, suits over ownership of mineral rights and litigation concerning defective work/outstanding receivables;
Insurance coverage — advising clients with insurance coverage matters in connection with construction projects and commercial endeavours, including disputes arising from denials of coverage under property and liability policies and the preparation of complex proofs of loss.
Aidan also has experience in product liability matters, environmental and Aboriginal law claims, and municipal law issues. She has represented clients at all levels of court in British Columbia, and in domestic and international arbitration proceedings.
Prolific publisher and leader of mining industry insights
Aidan has written extensively on the topics of construction, real property, mining, insurance coverage and commercial litigation, frequently delivering legal education presentations to clients and other law firms. As Editor-in-Chief of our firm’s annual Mining in the Courts publication, she provides clients exclusive insight into key Canadian case law and legal developments relevant to the mining industry. She is also a lead organizer of our Mining in the Courts seminars at PDAC, the world’s leading international mineral exploration convention.
Aidan is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the American Bar Association (ABA), she serves on the executive of the Construction Law section of the Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch, and as Vice-Chair on three committees of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) of the ABA. Aidan is heavily involved in mentoring. She served for a number of years as Co-Chair of our Vancouver Student Recruitment Committee, as a mentor through the YWCA High School Mentorship Program, and for several years she led the Unaccompanied Minors Project, a pro bono initiative in which lawyers from our firm act as representatives for children arriving in Canada without parents or guardians. Aidan graduated from the University of Victoria Faculty of Law, and was admitted to the British Columbia bar in 2006.
