Dear clients and friends,

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families the very best during this holiday season. As the year draws to a close, I’d also like to take a moment to reflect on an unforgettable 12 months. 

We thank our clients for their continued trust and for their business. We are privileged to work with some of the most sophisticated and exciting clients in Canada and around the world. Solving their most important legal and business challenges motivates us to do better every day.

Over the past year, our firm has made significant investments in our ability to meet the needs of our clients today and in the future. This includes welcoming new partners in areas such as Technology, Financial Services, Global Metals & Mining, Energy, M&A, Competition & Foreign Investment / Antitrust, Oil & Gas, Cannabis, Real Property, and Pensions, Benefits and Executive Compensation.

It also includes the growth of MT❯Division, the firm’s expanded service offerings that go beyond traditional legal advice. Building on the success of MT❯3, 2018 saw the launch of MT❯Align, a network of independent contract lawyers integrating with our teams and working with clients, as well as MT❯Play, a global consultancy specializing in the evolving intersection of gaming, technology, and the law.

However, one of the investments we are most proud of is the launch of the McCarthy Tétrault INCLUSION NOW Initiative, our firm’s renewed pledge to our people, our clients and our communities. INCLUSION NOW is McCarthy Tétrault’s deliberate, focused commitment to recruiting diverse talent, fostering an inclusive workplace, and giving back to the places where we live and work. We launched INCLUSION NOW this fall with a five year, 5 million dollar commitment to United Way / Centraide organizations across Canada. Over the coming months we will work on programs and initiatives designed to ensure that the values of diversity, inclusion and social responsibility inform every aspect of who we are as a firm, and what we do. At McCarthy Tétrault we know how very fortunate we are, and therefore how great our responsibility is to our people, and to our communities. We believe INCLUSION NOW plays a part in fulfilling this responsibility in a way that is unique in the Canadian legal sector.
