McCarthy Tétrault is excited to welcome Chris Zawadzki  back to the firm as a partner in our Business Law Group.

Chris is returning to the firm after a successful tenure at Northland Power, a Canadian-based global producer of renewable and conventional energy assets.

With exposure to global energy and mining markets and possessing unique insights into the metals and materials demands for energy producers, Chris’ practice will focus primarily on finance transactions in the mining and energy spaces.

As Canada expands its reputation as a global energy powerhouse, Chris’ extensive exposure to global markets, including Europe, Africa, South America, and the Middle East will help clients transact nearly anywhere in the world while capitalizing on the country’s energy ambitions. His in-house experience further provides him with first-hand insights and understanding into clients’ day-to-day concerns as well as their long-term strategic goals, making him a true partner to legal counsels and executives driving transformational deals and projects to successful completion.

“There’s so much happening in both the energy and mining spaces in Canada, and our clients have no shortage of ambitious deals to complete,” says Eva Bellissimo, McCarthy Tétrault’s Business Law Group Leader and Co-lead of the firm’s Global Metals and Mining Group. “We’re delighted Chris is returning to help our clients realize those ambitions with his in-house experience and unique blend of mining and energy expertise. The work is really exciting, and partnering Chris with our domestic and international clients will make for great, commercial savvy teams focused on excellent outcomes.”

“I’m extraordinarily grateful to the wonderful team at Northland and very proud of what we achieved in the nearly two and a half years I was there,” says Chris. “I’m excited to be rejoining my colleagues at McCarthy Tétrault and to compare notes on what’s been happening in the energy and mining spaces. The energy transition is picking up speed, and I’m eager to help clients understand and capitalize on that exciting and critical intersection where mining, metals, and energy meet.”
