McCarthy Tétrault advised on two winning projects at the 2021 CCPPP National Awards for Innovation and Excellence in P3s

Toronto. November 17, 2021. McCarthy Tétrault acted as legal advisor on two of the five gold award-winning projects at the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships’ (CCPPP) 2021 National Awards for Innovation and Excellence in Public-Private Partnerships ceremony. The awards are representative of the Firm’s ongoing commitment to helping our clients’ achieve success on world-class P3 projects that drive economic growth and innovation in the infrastructure sector in Canada and internationally.
The City of Edmonton’s Valley Line West LRT won the Gold award for Project Development. We represented the successful proponent, Marigold Infrastructure Partners Limited Partnership, a limited partnership formed by Parsons Inc. and Colas Infrastructure Canada GP, on the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT Extension Project. The Project includes the construction of a 14 km light rail extension from downtown Edmonton to Lewis Farms in west Edmonton, including 14 street level stations and two elevated stations. The C$2.6 billion project was the largest Canadian P3 infrastructure project (by value) to reach financial close in 2020. McCarthy Tétrault’s team was led by Morgan Troke and Samantha Cunliffe, and included Liezl Behm, Ailbish Bruchet, Erin O'Callaghan, Firuz Rahimi and Xinya Wang.
The Gold award for Infrastructure (International) went to the L.F. Wade International Airport Redevelopment Project. We advised Aecon Concessions on all aspects of the US$285 million Bermuda-based project – the largest P3 infrastructure deal in Bermuda’s history. The project was lauded for its innovation involving private sector investment to finance a major capital redevelopment of a small airport. The team was led by Jody Aldcorn and included Linda Brown, Jim Janetos, Pavan Jawanda, Samantha Cunliffe, Liezl Behm, Ailbish Bruchet and Patrick Beechinor.
