Toronto, April 17, 2012 — McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to announce that three of its litigators authored the "Cross-Border and Multi-Jurisdiction Class Actions — A Canadian Perspective" chapter in the American Bar Association’s Annual Review of Developments in Business and Corporate Litigation.

As in previous editions, the 2012 edition of the review spans a broad range of substantive areas of business law, providing an overview of business and corporate litigation topics that have emerged during the past year. In their chapter on class actions, McCarthy Tétrault litigators Anthony Alexander, Christopher Hubbard and Elder Marques — all members of the firm’s Litigation Group in Toronto — review and comment on how Canadian courts have applied jurisdictional principles in the class action context, both in assessing whether certification is appropriate and in relation to the enforcement of foreign class action orders. The other chapters in the two-volume review summarize cases, legislation, trends and developments in antitrust, corporate, employment, bankruptcy and other facets of business law.

This is the first edition of the annual review that includes content on Canadian legal developments.

McCarthy Tétrault partner Anthony Alexander’s commercial practice focuses on written advocacy and the provision of opinions in both complex litigation and transactional matters.

Partner Christopher Hubbard’s corporate/commercial litigation practice includes class actions, mining litigation, product liability and product recalls, insurance, contractual disputes, securities litigation and shareholder disputes. He also acts in medical malpractice and professional liability cases.

Associate Elder Marques’ practice includes complex corporate and commercial disputes, securities litigation, class actions and professional liability cases.

The recently published review can be purchased on the American Bar Association’s website.
