BC Hydro Files Environmental Impact Statement for Site C Project

On January 28, 2013, BC Hydro filed a five-volume environmental impact statement, including an executive summary, with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency and the BC Environmental Assessment Office for its proposed Site C Clean Energy Project (Site C).

If constructed, Site C would be the third dam and generating station on the Peace River in northeast BC. BC Hydro is proposing a 1,050-metre-long and 60-metre tall dam with an 83-kilometre reservoir designed to produce 1,100 megawatts of capacity and approximately 5,100 gigawatt hours of electrical energy annually. The public consultation period for the Site C environmental impact statement begins on February 3, 2013 and ends on April 4, 2013.
