Innovative Law Firm Seeking Dynamic Change Agents

The pace of technological changes and the development of innovative online solutions have a profound impact on librarians’ roles. Our firm is looking for a dynamic change agent to fill the role of Research Specialist, Technology on our Research and Information team.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing expertise in designing, developing and supporting our team’s online presence; exploring and assessing innovative online tools
  • Developing strategies, techniques, and best practices that are aligned with the firm priorities
  • Identifying, evaluating and teaching the use of information technologies to improve access and enhance user learning
  • Providing in-depth legal research and reference services using print and electronic resources
  • Exploring and assessing enhancements to work processes for all specialized applications, including EOS, Onelog, and Manzama
  • Creating and implementing online learning modules to support reference and web-based training programs in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Legal Research and Information
  • Designing and providing effective training for staff, students and lawyers on technology via workshops, presentations, lectures, one-on-one instruction, online tutorials and other suitable methods
  • Supporting the Senior Director and Senior Manager in a variety of related projects and performing ad hoc duties as necessary

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of experience in a related field, similar but not limited to Systems Librarian position
  • Master’s Degree in Library Science, Library Information Science or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program
  • Experience in a law firm, professional services or specialized environment strongly preferred
  • Proven awareness of current issues and trends in information technology
  • Demonstrated advanced aptitude in the use of technology
  • Proven, substantial knowledge of legal research and web-based subscription services
  • Experience with professional and social networking, IM, blogs, wikis, eLearning software and open source content
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to show initiative
  • Strong user-service orientation; ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Advanced skills in web development and programming languages such as HTML are preferred
  • Advanced skills including Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint 2010
  • Bilingualism (French/English) an asset
