In Memory of Thomas B. Akin
It is with deep regret that McCarthy Tétrault announces the sudden passing of our dear friend and colleague Tom Akin on Wednesday September 28th. Tom was senior counsel in the Toronto office, a talented and experienced litigator he was recognized as a prominent tax advisor in Canada and an exemplary member of the legal profession.
Tom was a lawyer of many talents, well respected by everyone he worked with during a career that spanned more than 35 years. Incredibly accomplished professionally, Tom was also a man of impeccable character, proficient intellect, and he was an outstanding colleague to each of us. We are incredibly fortunate to have benefitted from Tom’s dedication, the laughter he shared and the compassion he showed for his coworkers and the wellbeing of his clients.

A book of condolences will be available for signing at McCarthy Tétrault’s reception on the 53rd floor at 66 Wellington Street West, Toronto for all those who wish to visit. Those wishing to make donations in Tom’s memory are invited to do so to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC) or Mount Sinai Hospital.
