McCarthy Tétrault’s Claude Bisson receives the highest honorary distinction from the Barreau du Québec
Montréal, June 12, 2015 – McCarthy Tétrault wishes to congratulate Claude Bisson, counsel in the Litigation Group, who is the recipient of the Barreau du Québec Medal, the highest honorary distinction bestowed by the Bar Association. The Medal, which was awarded yesterday during the Barreau’s annual convention, crowns Mr. Bisson’s distinguished legal career.
Claude Bisson, who is recognized as a pillar of the legal community and a guardian of government ethics, has had a distinguished career, first as a Crown Attorney, then as a member of the judiciary, where he was successively appointed Superior Court Judge (1969), puisne judge of the Quebec Court of Appeal (1980) and Chief Justice of the Quebec Court of Appeal (1988 to 1994). In 1996, he was appointed Commissioner of the Communications Security Establishment (CSE). On the same day, he was also appointed jurisconsult for the Quebec National Assembly.
Established in 1982, the Barreau du Québec Medal highlights the significant contribution of individuals who were instrumental in the advancement of the law and the legal profession and thus the progress of Quebec society. Since it was created, the Medal has paid tribute to eminent legal experts, all of whom have gained recognition from both the legal community and society at large.
