McCarthy Tétrault’s Business Law Group welcomes Patrick Shea

Montréal, July 12, 2016 — McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to announce that Patrick M. Shea recently joined the firm’s Business Law Group in the Montréal office as a partner. Recognized as a leading lawyer, principally in the areas of M&A, private equity and corporate and commercial law, Patrick’s skills and experience are an unequivocally strong complement to McCarthy Tétrault’s national platform.

“We are thrilled that Patrick has chosen our firm to continue his practice. He is well-known in the industry as a distinguished lawyer with an impeccable track record on both sides of the border,” said Kim Thomassin, National Client Leader, Managing Partner, Québec Region. “Patrick’s wealth of knowledge and his strategic, multinational expertise as a trusted legal advisor represent a significant advantage for our clients seizing opportunities in Canada, the US and elsewhere in the world,” added Éric Gosselin, Leader of the Business Law Group for the Québec Region.

“The firm’s strategy and strength as a preeminent Canadian law firm, with worldwide recognition, were among the reasons why I chose McCarthy Tétrault,” said Patrick Shea. “Equally impressive is a true dedication to client innovation and strong relationships among its own people — an appealing feature that I look forward to continue to build upon as part of the firm’s corporate/commercial practice.”

Patrick acts for corporate and private equity clients in Canadian, US and international mergers and acquisitions. He has represented sponsors and investors in connection with the formation of and investments in private equity funds, international financial institutions as arrangers and lenders, and borrowers, in connection with secured and unsecured credit facilities in Canada and the US, and underwriters and issuers in a number of Canadian and US debt and equity offerings. Patrick also coordinates the provision of a wide range of legal services to numerous large public companies, small- and mid-sized businesses, private equity firms, hedge funds, investment banks and entrepreneurs in Canada and internationally. Early in his career, he practiced as an associate at a top New York City law firm for five years.
