McCarthy Tétrault releases four new editions of communications law and policy handbooks
Toronto, May 1, 2014 — McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to announce the publication of four updated handbooks on communications law and policy. Prepared by lawyers in the firm’s Technology & Communications Group, the handbooks are designed to be an indispensable reference tool for broadcasting and telecommunications industry professionals and others interested in regulation. The handbooks are the standard industry references in the communications field in Canada.
The four new editions were officially released at the Law Society of Upper Canada’s 17th Biennial National Conference on New Developments in Communications Law and Policy, in Ottawa on May 1-2, 2014.
The four updated editions are the following:
- Canadian Broadcasting Regulatory Handbook: Now in its 12th edition, this is the standard reference in Canada on the Broadcasting Act, cabinet directions to the CRTC, broadcasting regulations, exemption orders, regulatory codes and CRTC policy statements other than those solely relating to radio, all updated to April 1, 2014.
- Canadian Telecommunications Regulatory Handbook: Now in its second edition, this handbook provides a detailed synopsis of Canadian telecommunications law and regulation and is also a convenient single reference source for the text of the laws, treaties, regulations, directions, orders, rules and other key documents that govern Canadian telecommunications regulation.
- Regulatory Guide to Canadian Television: Now in its seventh edition, this is an indispensable guide to regulatory, financial and ownership information on all of Canada’s television stations and networks, as well as Canadian specialty and pay television services. All information has been updated to April 1, 2014.
- Communications Law and the Courts in Canada: This is the second edition of an annotated guide to judicial decisions related to the regulation of communications and copyright in Canada. Over 570 judicial decisions are carefully analyzed and indexed. Includes all cases involving judicial review of the CRTC and the Copyright Board of Canada, up to the beginning of 2014.
