• Canada (Privacy Commissioner) v. Facebook, Inc., 2024 FCA 140: A case concerning a high-stakes application brought by the Privacy Commissioner of Canada challenging Meta’s compliance with the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”). McCarthy Tétrault represented Facebook, Inc. (now Meta Platforms Inc.) with a team that included Michael Feder, K.C., Gillian Kerr, Barry Sookman, Daniel Glover and Connor Bildfell. The case is now the subject of a leave application to the Supreme Court of Canada.
