McCarthy Tétrault to receive BCCLA Liberty Award for Excellence

Toronto, May 10, 2013 — McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to announce that on June 12, the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA) will honour the firm with the 2013 Liberty Award for Excellence in Legal Advocacy — Firm. The award recognizes the exceptional contributions made by partner Michael Feder and others in McCarthy Tétrault’s Vancouver office. Their involvements with the BCCLA include pro bono representation before all levels of court in matters relating to human rights and freedoms.

The BCCLA’s mandate is to preserve, defend, maintain and extend civil liberties and human rights in Canada. It was established in 1962, and is the oldest and most active civil liberties group in Canada. It is funded by the Law Foundation of British Columbia and concerned citizens. The BCCLA’s Liberty Awards celebrate excellence in legal advocacy, journalism, the arts and youth activism, bringing together some of Canada’s preeminent social justice champions.
