McCarthy Tétrault publishes comprehensive guide to help organizations prepare for Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation
Toronto, February 11, 2014 — McCarthy Tétrault released its new Anti-Spam Toolkit designed to help organizations understand and adapt to Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) coming into force on July 1, 2014.
Considered to be one of the toughest laws of its kind in the world, CASL will require Canadian businesses, not-for-profit organizations and individuals that send commercial electronic messages in Canada to implement significant changes to the way they conduct these communications.
McCarthy Tétrault’s Anti-Spam Toolkit will help with compliance efforts. It includes the following tools to use in compliance programs:
- Analysis of the law, including the messaging, computer program and Competition Act provisions
- A questionnaire to help companies begin their compliance efforts
- A checklist covering key CASL requirements
- A decision tree to help assess compliance of specific messages
McCarthy Tétrault has acted as counsel to businesses, not-for-profits, individuals and industry organizations. Our lawyers are the country’s leading practitioners on CASL compliance challenges.
