McCarthy Tétrault partners named as Lexpert Rising Stars

Toronto, December 4, 2012 — McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to announce that its partners Frédéric Cotnoir and Jonathan See were named as Rising Stars at Lexpert’s 2012 gala last night. The annual awards honour Canada’s leading lawyers under 40. Winners are nominated by their peers from firms, in-house and government, and are chosen by an independent selection committee.

"We are delighted for Frédéric and Jon," said Marc-André Blanchard, Chair and CEO of McCarthy Tétrault. "They are so deserving of this award – not only because of their high level of dedication and competency as lawyers, but also because of their team orientation, leadership skills and client focus. They work incredibly hard to support the firm’s clients and have achieved a level that few lawyers achieve even in their entire career."

Mr. Cotnoir is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s Business Law Group in Montréal. He practises corporate and securities law with a focus on M&A, corporate finance and public financings, and with significant expertise in the regulation of financial institutions. He is also the firm’s Business Law representative in its Professional Resources Committee. In addition, Mr. Cotnoir devotes time to enriching the community, including through his board seat of Le Vivier, a community initiative that promotes the development and dissemination of new music.

Mr. See is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s Toronto office. His practice is focused on major real estate, infrastructure and renewable energy assets and projects. He advises lenders, bondholders, underwriters and agents in significant corporate banking, project financing, secured financing and mezzanine financing transactions. He also advises real estate and infrastructure developers and owners on acquisitions, dispositions, bond and bank financings, restructurings, joint ventures, fund formations, developments and private equity investments, and has advised underwriters and issuers on high-profile corporate financings and M&A transactions involving REITs and public companies.
