McCarthy Tétrault partner Dominic Thérien rejoins the firm following a two-year Competition Bureau assignment
Montreal, October 8, 2013 — McCarthy Tétrault is very pleased to announce that partner Dominic Thérien has rejoined the firm’s Competition Group following a two-year assignment at the Competition Bureau of Canada. As Assistant Deputy Commissioner for the Québec and Atlantic regions, Mr. Thérien oversaw the Bureau’s criminal investigations into conspiracies and bid-rigging. He also oversaw investigations into deceptive advertising under the civil and criminal provisions of the Competition Act.
In his role, Mr. Thérien assisted the Commissioner of Competition in the enforcement of the Competition Act, and worked closely with a number of stakeholders on various policy initiatives in connection with investigations into conspiracies, collusion and bid-rigging. He also supported the Fair Business Practices Branch’s new priorities concerning deceptive advertising.
