McCarthy Tétrault Associate Atrisha Lewis receives Women in Law Leadership – Stronger Together Award

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to client service, initiative, achievement and in advancing the careers and equality of women in law, litigation associate Atrisha Lewis has received a 2020 Women in Law Leadership – Stronger Together Award.

Women in Law Leadership Awards were co-founded in 2011 by The Counsel Network and the Association of Women Lawyers and are presented annually to women lawyers in recognition of their outstanding service to the profession, community, legal scholarship, and pro bono activities.

“Since joining the Firm as an articling student in 2012, Atrisha has been a powerful advocate for equality, and racial and gender diversity within the Firm, the legal profession and the community. Atrisha continues to be a catalyst for tough, honest conversations about race, gender, and fairness, and her recommendations for best practices in bringing about awareness and change have been adopted by our firm, and others in Canada,” said Caroline Zayid, the firm’s national litigation practice group leader. “Atrisha has directly influenced the Firm’s vision of our Inclusion Now program which supports our goal of having a culture that reflects these important values.”

A dedicated litigator, Atrisha has represented clients before all levels of Court in Ontario, the Federal Court, and the Federal Court of Appeal. In 2019, Atrisha was elected a bencher of the Law Society of Ontario, where she serves as Vice-Chair of the Equity and Indigenous Affairs Committee. Atrisha also serves as a member of Toronto Mayor John Tory’s economic task force to aid the city during the COVID-19 pandemic, and is an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, coaching the Grant Moot team and lecturing on topics such as motions and litigation strategy.
