McCarthy Tétrault appoints John Osler, Q.C. as Chief Community Officer

Calgary, January 9, 2017 - Committed to working closely and engaging with its clients in the communities in which they conduct their business, McCarthy Tétrault announces the appointment of John Osler, Q.C., partner in the Calgary office, as the firm’s new Chief Community Officer.

John is the former head of the Business Law Group in the Alberta region. He is a trusted advisor to many of Canada’s largest corporations on a wide variety of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, public securities, private equity, corporate governance, securities regulatory matters, shareholder disputes, and Canadian and US stock exchanges.

As the Chairman of the McCarthy Tétrault Foundation, John assists in providing financial support to over 160 charitable organizations across Canada each year. He is also involved with Hull Services, an organization which provides support to families experiencing behavioural and emotional challenges, and Calgary Pride which raises awareness of discrimination against gender identity, expression and sexual orientation.

John is the co-leader of the Concerned Citizens for the Calgary Cancer Centre which successfully obtained the Government of Alberta’s promise to build a comprehensive cancer hospital in Calgary. He is a former chairman of the Alberta Cancer Foundation and is involved in various cancer charities across Canada.
