Martha Harrison joins McCarthy Tétrault’s International Trade Practice in Toronto
Toronto, November 8, 2017 — McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to announce the arrival of equity partner Martha Harrison who has joined our leading national International Trade and Investment Law, and Retail and Consumer Markets Groups.
Martha’s practice is focused on international trade and customs law, with an additional emphasis on regulatory, government relations, contracting, and international arbitration matters. “Martha is known for her practical approach to her clients’ legal problems, particularly in the consumer space,” said Caroline Zayid, Practice Group Leader of McCarthy Tétrault’s National Litigation Group. “She is a tremendous addition to our firm and her experience in dealing with trade and customs issues will be vital to our clients, especially in today’s evolving political climate.”
With expertise in advising clients in the power, mining, oil & gas, retail and consumer markets, and technology sectors, Martha places a premium on truly understanding a client’s business in order to effectively address their challenges. Martha’s international trade and investment practice includes customs law, anti-dumping and countervail issues, import and export controls, and foreign investment. She further provides clients with strategic and pragmatic advice regarding product regulation in Canada, including standards, packaging and labelling, importing and exporting issues, and transportation matters. Fluently bilingual, Martha represents clients in French as well as in English. She was named one of Lexpert’s Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40 in 2013, and is recognized as a leading Canadian international trade lawyer by a number of industry and peer-review directories.
