On December 10, 2010, a group of six former executives of Royal Group Technologies who were acquitted of defrauding the Vaughan-based company.  The case was in connection with a major land transaction in 1998 and the issuance of bonuses in 2002.  The defence won a complete victory at the marathon trial, which lasted over five months. The trial judge found that the evidence was "overwhelming" that there was no dishonesty and no fraud. The judge ruled that it would be a "travesty of justice" to make the defendants wait one more day to be acquitted of these serious charges. This is destined to be a landmark case in respect of the defence of white collar offences in Canada.

McCarthy Tétrault LLP represented one of six defendants, with a team led by Christopher Wayland.
