Montréal, January 6, 2017 - Diversity builds a stronger work environment and McCarthy Tétrault is committed to inclusion in the workplace, announcing the appointment of David Platts, a partner in our Montréal office, as the new Chief Inclusion Officer. This appointment reflects the innovative and progressive approach to workplace inclusion. David will work closely with McCarthy Tétrault’s Senior Leadership Team in his new mandate.
“David’s appointment highlights our commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and to seeing that we continue to make strides with these initiatives on a daily basis,” said Barbara Boake, National Practice Leader. “In his role, David will ensure that we continue to invest in a respectful and vibrant work environment that is dedicated to the highest level of professional service.”
As a longstanding member of the National Diversity Committee, David has been involved in a number of initiatives including hosting events for the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Community Forum (SOGIC), for Pride at Work and Gender Creative Kids Canada and for student diversity conferences. He has also been mentor and sponsor for a number of women lawyers, at McCarthy Tétrault and elsewhere. David is President of GRIS-Montréal, Quebec’s largest volunteer community organization demystifying homosexuality and bisexuality. David’s legal practice focusses on civil and administrative litigation. He has considerable experience in defence-side medical malpractice, professional negligence, disciplinary law cases, as well as commercial and intellectual property litigation.
“Our priority is to connect with all of our clients and communities so that we can better address their needs and challenges. The richest ideas come from an inclusive environment, and in this new role I will be working hard to ensure that we strengthen our commitment to diversity and continue to develop it as a core value of the firm,” said David Platts. “Together, we can do more to take diversity and inclusion to the next level.”
