McCarthy Tétrault advises on Capital Markets Tax Deal of the Year
Toronto, September 20, 2016 – On Thursday evening at the International Tax Review (ITR) 11th Americas Tax Awards in New York, a transaction McCarthy Tétrault acted on as counsel received the Capital Markets Tax Deal of the Year Award.
In the winning transaction, McCarthy Tétrault acted for Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) on its $1.5 billion US convertible share investment in Bombardier Transportation’s then-newly created holding company, BT Holdco, announced on November 19, 2015. Christian Meighen and Marie-Soleil Landry, from the firm’s Tax Group in Montreal and Québec City, who both worked on the transaction, accepted the award on the firm’s behalf in New York. the firm also recognizes the close collaboration of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, a London-based international law firm, in concluding this significant transaction.
