Toronto, August 1, 2014 – McCarthy Tétrault congratulates partner Barry Sookman who was selected as one of five Advisory Committee experts for the Centre for International Governance Innovation’s (CIGI) International Law Research Program.
The advisory committee will assist in evaluating and developing a strategic plan to enhance the law research program. Launched in 2013, the research program is a 10-year initiative jointly funded by CIGI and the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The program’s purpose is to develop Ontario’s knowledge economy, and build world-class intellectual strengths to understand and help shape the international law and frameworks, both of which are important to Canada’s prosperity.
Mr. Sookman is a partner and former leader of the firm’s Technology Law and Intellectual Property Groups. He is an adjunct professor in intellectual property law at Osgoode Hall Law School and is recognized as one of Canada’s foremost authorities in information technology, intellectual property, e-commerce, Internet and privacy law.
