McCarthy Tétrault counsel Martine St-Louis appointed a Federal Court judge

Montréal, April 22, 2014 — McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to announce that Martine St-Louis has been appointed a Judge of the Federal Court in Ottawa. Her swearing-in ceremony will be held within the next few weeks.
"Based on her extensive experience and knowledge, as well as on her listening skills and compassion, Martine will be a remarkable judge," said Kim Thomassin, Managing Partner for Quebec region. "Although we will be losing a highly esteemed colleague, we are delighted that she will be pursuing her career in a such an honourable fashion as a member of the judiciary."
For over 20 years, Ms. St-Louis assisted clients on issues relating to the entry of foreign workers into Canada and advised companies as well as workers and their families during the various stages of the admission process, whether as temporary or permanent residents. She was supported by a multi-disciplinary team on related matters, including contracts, international tax, social programs and pension plans.
After obtaining a law degree from the Université de Montréal in 1987, Ms. St-Louis was called to the Barreau du Québec in 1988. She joined McCarthy Tétrault’s Labour and Employment Law Group in 2001.
