Toronto, October 9, 2013 — McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to announce that Business in Vancouver has named its partner Miranda Lam among British Columbia’s Forty Under 40 for 2013. The annual award recognizes young entrepreneurs, executives and professionals in British Columbia who have demonstrated excellence in business, judgment, leadership and community contribution.
"We are extremely proud of Miranda’s achievement," said Paul Boniferro, McCarthy Tétrault’s National Leader, Practices and People. "She is an outstanding lawyer — dedicated not only to her clients, but also to the community at large, supporting numerous community organizations in Metro Vancouver."
Ms. Lam’s practice focuses exclusively on commercial litigation matters and business disputes, including contractual claims, securities litigation, shareholder remedies, corporate governance issues, internal investigations and defamation. She is recognized by Benchmark Canada as a "future star" litigator, has contributed to a number of legal publications and is a frequent speaker on governance issues, shareholder disputes and dispute resolution processes. She currently serves on the boards of the United Way of the Lower Mainland and the Vancouver Foundation, and was appointed to the British Columbia Premier’s Chinese Advisory Council in 2012. Ms. Lam is also the past chair of the board of directors of the University of British Columbia Alumni Association.
Business in Vancouver, published by BIV Media Group, publishes industry-specific news and information for business professionals. Its annual Forty Under 40 Award winners are determined by a panel of judges who look at a cross-section of impressive people from a wide range of industries who are ahead of their time for their age. The award gala will be held in January 2014.
