Montréal, April 27, 2011 — McCarthy Tétrault is very proud to partner with the École d'Entrepreneurship de Beauce (EEB) for two exciting athletic challenges as part of the EEB's unique program for building the entrepreneurial elite of the future. The first “Défi EEB — McCarthy Tétrault” will see entrepreneur-trainers and entrepreneur-athletes (as the EEB calls them) climb Mount Washington in New Hampshire this April 28, 29 and 30. The second challenge will take place in November 2011.

McCarthy Tétrault lawyers François Amyot and Clemens Mayr will be taking part in the climb, exemplifying the philosophy behind the EEB's program — that is, to get participants out of their comfort zones, to push them to their limits, and to analyze their reactions in difficult situations.

The EEB's program was developed by leading experts following consultations with approximately 50 experienced entrepreneurs. It emphasizes not only the direct transfer of the knowledge of top-level entrepreneurs to a new generation of entrepreneurs, but also their global health. The program is spread over two years and involves around 50 days of training per year.

“Innovation, effectiveness and dynamism are common values of both McCarthy Tétrault and the EEB,” said Kim Thomassin, the firm's managing partner for the Québec region. “We also identify with the EEB's pioneering and visionary spirit, its desire to contribute to the community, and its innovative approach to sharing knowledge.”

“We are convinced that health and fitness are directly linked to business leaders achieving higher performance,” added Nathaly Riverin, EEB's General Manager. “Thanks to McCarthy Tétrault's support, the eight-month intensive training and completion of this athletic challenge at Mount Washington allow our entrepreneurs to acquire a healthier lifestyle. This is a very positive partnership, and we are grateful to the McCarthy Tétrault team.”

About the École d'Entrepreneurship de Beauce

Founded in the fall of 2010, the École d'Entrepreneurship de Beauce (EEB) is the only institution in Québec dedicated strictly to the fostering of entrepreneurs from every sector and to helping them develop their abilities. The EEB approach to building the entrepreneurial elite of Québec of the future is based on action and discussion. During their stays at the EEB, the participants, who are called “ entrepreneur‑athletes,” will meet and build connections with renowned business personalities, who serve as “entrepreneur-coaches.” The “E-to-E” (for “entrepreneur-coaches to entrepreneur-athletes”) approach is designed to improve the participants' decision-making abilities through evolving discussions and practical experiences.

Throughout the program, the entrepreneur-athlete will come into contact with at least 30 company heads. The program consists of 15 modules, each averaging five to seven days, that will take place over two years for a total of 100 days of intensive training.
