Randy Bauslaugh Joins McCarthy Tétrault to Lead Pensions, Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice
September 9, 2010
Randy is an expert in structuring pension plan investments. For nearly three decades, corporations, boards of trustees and domestic and foreign governments have turned to him for guidance on the design, administration, implementation, restructuring and winding up of pension, group benefit and profit-sharing plans.
"I am thrilled that Randy is joining our team," said Marc-André Blanchard, Chair & CEO of McCarthy Tétrault. "With Randy at the helm, our expanded pensions and benefits practice will be better positioned to guide our clients through an area of law that is becoming more complex and challenging."
"Randy’s infectious enthusiasm for solving multifaceted pension problems will be a boon to our clients and to the firm," said Greg Winfield, a partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s Pensions, Benefits and Executive Compensation practice.
Randy has contributed significantly to Canadian and international professional organizations in the legal, actuarial, pension and asset management field. He is Chair of the International Pension and Employee Benefits Lawyers Association, and a member of the MEPP Consultation Committee of the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. He is a past member of the Executive Committee of the Pension and Benefits Section of the Canadian Bar Association (Ontario).
"Canadian pension plans are heading for uncharted waters, and the challenges facing governments, employers and individuals are going to require creative and forward-looking solutions," said Randy Bauslaugh. "I’m looking forward to working with the McCarthy Tétrault team to deliver those solutions for our clients while we help them navigate these new challenges."
The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory cites Randy as a "most frequently recommended leading practitioner" in pension and benefits law, and he has a Band-1 ranking for pensions and benefits in Canada from Chambers Global, The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business. He is also listed in the Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada and enjoys the highest rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.
When not earning kudos for his professional expertise, Randy contributes his time to educational, cultural and charitable initiatives. He is a member of the Canada-India Education Council, a Board Member Emeritus of Theatre Direct Canada, and has received the East York Good Neighbour Award.
