Biography

With an extensive network and a wealth of experience in assisting companies in the mining and metals industry get to market, Orlee is an invaluable resource for clients navigating the going public process

Orlee Wertheim is a lawyer in our Capital Markets and Global Metals and Mining Groups who assists clients accessing the public markets by providing unique insight into stock exchange rules, requirements and best practices..

With 10 years of experience at the TSX, Orlee’s insight on how companies can best manage the going public process and subsequently manage their obligations to both shareholders and regulators, make her uniquely positioned to advise clients on their capital market activity. She knows the pit-falls, the risks and inner workings they face when taking their companies to market. Orlee advises both Canadian and international companies on public company matters including structuring, corporate governance, stock exchange compliance and public disclosure.

Additionally, Orlee has cultivated an extensive network of connections in the metals and mining industry, including Canadian and international government officials, investment banks and global sourcing of financing. Mining companies looking to develop their projects in Canada, Latin America, Africa, Australia or Europe can benefit from leveraging these close relationships. Orlee understands the global challenges and opportunities presented to mining companies, be they issues related to local communities, geo-political realities or financing.

A frequent speaker at global mining conferences, Orlee regularly provides insight into market trends for mining companies. She is a member of the Prospector & Developers Association of Canada and a member of Advisory Boards of Mines & Money and Mining Indaba.

Community is important to Orlee and she regularly volunteers with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), as well as fundraising for their One Brave Night campaign. She also sits on the executive committee for Women who Rock, an organization whose mission is to empower women and improve gender diversity in the mining industry. Orlee received her LL.B. from the University of Ottawa in 2004 and is called to the bar in Ontario.
