Tim has been practising Canadian management-side labour and employment law for over two decades. His approach is straightforward and time-honoured: understand first the client’s unique needs, and then apply that knowledge to develop impactful strategies to achieve the client’s prime objectives. Whether in court, at a labour board hearing, before the Human Rights tribunal or in collective bargaining, Tim applies this approach with employers in all sectors of the Canadian economy, including energy, financial, transportation, construction and federal sector. Many of Tim’s clients are based in the US or UK, and have operations across Canada. Recognized as a leading labour and employment lawyer in The Best Lawyers in Canada and The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, Tim frequently speaks at conferences, and to industry groups and clients on such topics as trade union negotiations, employee engagement, corporate reorganization, human rights, performance management and privacy. He believes that innovation in legal services is critical to clients and he has developed some novel legal compliance tools and interactive harassment/workplace violence training.
Tim obtained this BASc (Honours) from McMaster University in 1988 and his LLB from the University of Toronto in 1991. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1993.
