Gordon M. Nettleton

Gord Nettleton is a partner in our Oil & Gas Group in Calgary and is the lead of our National Energy Regulatory Group. He specializes in energy regulatory, aboriginal, environmental and business law matters and has significant experience in the regulation of oil and gas pipeline and electricity industries. He appears regularly before the National Energy Board, and provincial regulatory tribunals including the Energy Resources Conservation Board (now the Alberta Energy Regulator), the Alberta Utilities Commission, the Ontario Energy Board, the British Columbia Utilities Commission and the New Brunswick Energy Utilities Board.
Mr. Nettleton has been recognized in the 2013 and 2014 editions of The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory in the area of Oil & Gas.
Previously, Mr. Nettleton was in-house Senior Regulatory Counsel to one of Canada’s largest pipeline utilities. His past experience also includes secondments as counsel to the National Energy Board.
Mr. Nettleton has been a speaker and panellist at the Canadian Petroleum Institute’s International Program for Energy Sector Executives. The topical discussions have included pipeline incentive tolling arrangements in Canada and the Canadian energy regulatory regime. He has also presented papers at the annual Canadian Energy Law Foundation Research Seminar on recent regulatory developments affecting the oil and gas industry as well as at industry conferences on oil sands development approvals, arctic pipeline developments and regulatory issues facing shale gas developments in Quebec.
Mr. Nettleton received his B.Comm and his LLB from the University of Alberta.
