AREA OF EXPERTISE
Claire Gowdy is an associate in our Business Law Group in Toronto. She maintains a general corporate law practice and advises clients in a wide range of industries, including technology, financial services, energy and mining.
Ms. Gowdy recently completed a six-month secondment to a major Canadian financial institution. While on secondment, she acted exclusively for one of the bank’s fintech start-up investments, providing advice on all aspects of payments innovation, including outsourcing arrangements, consumer protection and anti-money laundering requirements, as well as other general commercial and regulatory matters.
Ms. Gowdy is an active member of the FinTech and Cybersecurity practice groups and frequent contributor to the firm’s blogs in these areas.
Ms. Gowdy received her LLB and BCL in 2013 from McGill University’s Faculty of Law and her AB in Psychology from Princeton University in 2007. She was a member of the varsity rowing teams at both Princeton and McGill. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2014 and is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.
