David Badour is an associate in our Business Law Group in Toronto. He maintains a general corporate law practice with an emphasis on public and private mergers & acquisitions (both domestic and cross-border) and corporate finance transactions. Mr. Badour also routinely advises clients on corporate governance and continuous disclosure matters.
Mr. Badour’s recent transactional experience includes Direct Energy’s sale of its Ontario Home Services business to EnerCare Inc. for $450 million in cash and shares, Cara Holdings’ strategic financial partnership with Fairfax and the acquisition by Cara Operations of Prime Restaurants, E-L Financial Corporation Limited’s sale of The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company to The Travelers Companies, Inc. for $1.125 billion in cash and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s modernization of its casino gaming business.

Mr. Badour received a JD (magna cum laude) from Michigan State University in 2011 and a JD (cum laude) from the University of Ottawa in 2012. During his time at law school, he earned a place on the Dean’s List each year and received multiple academic awards and prizes in the areas of public law, legislation and American constitutional law. He received his BA in Political Science from McGill University in 2007.
Mr. Badour was admitted to practice in the State of New York in 2012 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2013. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
