Biography
Paul Blyschak is an associate in our Business Law Group in Calgary and is a member of the firm’s Energy Department. His practice encompasses a broad range of both domestic and international transactions in the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry as well as in the resources sector. He also regularly advises on mergers and acquisitions and corporate financings as well as risk mitigation strategies in international transactions, including compliance with anti-corruption laws.Prior to joining McCarthy Tétrault, Mr. Blyschak worked in commercial litigation and international commercial arbitration. He has experience in, and has published widely on, foreign investment disputes between private entities and sovereign states, including international energy disputes. Mr. Blyschak is called to the bar in Alberta, New York State and New South Wales. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Mr. Blyschak received his BA from McGill University (Great Distinction), his JD from Bond University (First Class Honours) and his LLM from the University of Toronto, and is the recipient of numerous academic awards and scholarships. Mr. Blyschak has lived and worked in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Japan and Australia, among others.
