Biography

Gabrielle Richards is a partner in the firm’s Toronto office and a former member of the firm’s Board of Partners. Her practice is focused on the tax implications of mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations and corporate finance, as well as other general taxation matters.

In 2009, Gabrielle was named amongst the Top 100 of Canada’s Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network (WXN). Ms. Richards is listed in the 2007-2013 editions of Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business, in the area of tax law. She also appears in the 2013 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory in the area of corporate tax and has appeared in the LEXPERT/The American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, in the area of corporate tax since 2007. Ms. Richards has been listed among Canada's top 25 women lawyers, featured in Lexpert magazine and is included in the Guide to the World's Leading Tax Advisers. Ms. Richards is recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada as a leading practitioner in tax law.

Ms. Richards has chaired and participated in many conferences and seminars on taxation matters, including at Canadian Tax Foundation, Canadian Bar Association and American Bar Association conferences. She is a former member of the Joint Committee on Taxation of the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Ms. Richards is a former member of the Board of Governors of the Canadian Tax Foundation. She is an Adjunct Professor of the Osgoode Hall Law School of York University.
