Biography

Glen G. MacArthur is a retired partner in our Business Law Group in Toronto but continues his specialized practice focussing on competition law, financial institutions and banking matters.

Mr. MacArthur has specialized in the area of competition law for more than 25 years. He has advised a broad range of Canadian, U.S. and international clients on all aspects of Canadian competition law. Mr. MacArthur has been involved in many of the most significant proceedings in Canada. Among the clients for whom he has acted on a regular basis are Phillip Morris, Bank of Nova Scotia, Kimberly-Clark, Noranda, 3M Canada, TransCanada Pipelines and Xerox Corporation. Mr. MacArthur also acted for the Department of Justice in the first contested merger under the new merger law, which was introduced in 1986 (the Palm Dairies case).

He is the author of the Canada section in Brown, Littles World Antitrust Law and Practice and has authored a competition law compliance manual for business executives.

Mr. MacArthur received his BA in 1966 and his LLB in 1969, both from the University of Toronto. He received his LLM from the University of London in 1971 and was called to the Ontario bar in 1973.
