Mr. Darroch carries on a general litigation practice with particular emphasis on criminal law, health law, and medical defence cases. He acts as counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
Mr. Darroch has prosecuted and defended serious criminal cases and has conducted trials at the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice. He has appeared as counsel before The Ontario Divisional Court, The Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
As a criminal defence lawyer Mr. Darroch has conducted over 250 contested trials on cases ranging from attempted murder, major frauds, aggravated assault, and sexual assault. Mr. Darroch recently completed a multi-day sexual assault trial at the Superior Court of Justice resulting in an acquittal on a 10 count indictment.
Mr. Darroch is a regular instructor at the annual Osgoode Hall Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop. He is also a student mentor and coach at the Ontario Bar Association annual law day student competition.
He received his BA from the University of Western Ontario in 1995 and a diploma of Honours Standing from the University of Western Ontario in 1997. Mr. Darroch received his LLB from the University of Ottawa in 2000.
Mr. Darroch was called to the Ontario bar in 2002. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Criminal Lawyers Association, the Advocates Society, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Canadian Bar Association.
