Shana Wolch is a partner in our Labour and Employment Group in Calgary. She assists clients with their day to day human resources matters and her specific areas of practice include occupational health and safety compliance (creation and implementation of policies through to investigations and reports, defence of claims and charges); alcohol and drug policies, administration and compliance; employee trust thefts; mergers and acquisitions; executive employment agreements; privacy compliance including policies, notifications, data breach notification, responses to requests and defence of complaints; the creation, implementation and training of all workplace employment policies; employee discipline and dismissal; disability and accommodation; workers’ compensation; human rights and discrimination; and, unionized workforce issues including discipline and defence of labour relations grievances. She has also been a lead investigator in workplace investigation matters and frequently provides support and training for clients to conduct their own investigations.
Shana is recognized by Chambers Canada and Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of Labour and Employment. She is also recognized in the current edition of The Legal 500 - Canada as a Next Generation Lawyer in the area of Labour & Employment.
Shana was previously Chair (2012-2014) of the Canadian Bar Association - Labour and Employment Law (South Section) Executive. Shana participates in the CBA mentor program as a mentor to the University of Calgary law students. She is also a guest lecturer for the University of Calgary Employment Law class and is on the Board of Directors for Global Lawyers, Canada. She worked previously as in house counsel to one of Canada’s largest and leading oil and gas companies.
